About Challenge Alaska
Challenge Alaska Information
Challenge Alaska Adaptive Ski and Snowboard School was established at Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, Alaska in 1995. A beautiful, 4,500 square foot accessible facility was built on the slope side of the beginner hill and is the same building used today for the Challenge Alaska ski school.
The ski school back door literally opens right onto the ski area, with splendid views of the Chugach Mountains and Turnagain Arm. Inside there is a full kitchen, comfortable great room with couches and fireplace, and a full service rental shop.
Participation in Challenge Alaska's programs helps people break down the barriers that may exist for them in many aspects of life, by building confidence and security, creating an infrastructure for support, increasing mobility, and improving health: which in turn promotes education, social development and involvement, employment, and the ultimate goal on independence.
